Where the Kitchen Meets the Lab – Let the Delicious Experiments Begin!
Calling all young chefs and curious minds—it’s time to turn the kitchen into your very own science lab! This action-packed 4-day camp is filled with mind-blowing experiments, explosive food science, and, of course, delicious results. From popping popcorn to creating edible bubbles, discover the science behind every meal while having hands-on fun. Science + cooking = MAGIC, and we’re ready to prove it!
What's Cooking? Here's the Flavor-Filled Lineup:
Day 1: Heat & Reactions – Ever wondered why sugar turns golden and gooey when you heat it? Or why pancakes rise? Day 1 is all about chemical reactions in the kitchen. We’ll cook up caramelization, discover the Maillard reaction, and experiment with baking soda and powder to find out which one makes the fluffiest pancakes. And of course, we’ll get a poppin’ popcorn experiment to see why kernels explode into fluffy fun!
Day 2: Emulsions & Foams – Get ready to whip, whisk, and bubble! Today, we’ll dive into the science of foams and emulsions, learning how oil and water magically mix to make creamy mayo and frothy whipped cream. But that’s not all—prepare to create fruit juice caviar using the science of spherification, and discover how air gives food its light, airy texture. It’s food magic you can eat!
Day 3: Fermentation & Freezing Fun – Ever wonder how bread rises or yogurt is made? On Day 3, we’ll get into the wild world of fermentation and freezing! You’ll see how yeast makes dough rise, try your hand at making quick-pickled veggies, and then freeze the fun with sodium chloride (or bag method for the cooler kids). Ice cream isn’t just a treat—it’s a science experiment too!
Day 4: Cooking Challenge & Tasting Party – Time to put your newfound knowledge to the test! In this grand finale, you’ll take on a mystery ingredient challenge where teams will use all the science tricks they’ve learned to create the most delicious and creative dish.
Whether you’re a budding chef or just love to experiment with food, this camp is a must-do for anyone who loves to get their hands dirty in the kitchen. Science, food, and fun collide in this hands-on camp where you’ll become an official Food Scientist by the end of the week!
