BULLDOGS DROP ROAD GAME VS. HEBRON

Andersen Pickard
The Berwick Academy boys varsity hockey team kicked off a three-game streak of road contests against Hebron on Wednesday.

Hebron jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first period, then added another goal in the second. This 4-0 score remained intact for the remainder of the game.

With that said, junior Flynn Martin executed a very strong performance in net. He made a plethora of impressive saves and didn’t surrender any goals over the final 34 minutes of play.

Both teams were plagued by penalties. Two of Hebron’s goals actually came on their own penalty kill, and they also scored one power-play goal in the aftermath of a Berwick infraction.

It was a step backward for Berwick in the penalty department. After playing more clean hockey at home on Tuesday (one two-minute penalty), the Bulldogs were responsible for eight trips to the box totaling 16 minutes against Hebron.

It may be mid-February, but there’s still time for Berwick to re-gain its footing ahead of an exciting slate of Holt Conference playoff action. They close this week with road clashes against North Yarmouth Academy and Proctor Academy. Next Wednesday’s home tilt against NYA is their final home game and second-final game of the regular season.
