December 18, 2024 | Search Advisory Committee Update

Dear Community Members,
I hope this finds you all well as we approach the holiday season. I wanted to update you on the progress we are making in the Head of School search. RG175 is extremely positive about the response they have had to the posting and outreach for this role. They have received strong interest and are excited about the slate of candidates they are assembling for our consideration as the next Head of School.

RG175 will be meeting with the search committee on January 9 for training on evaluating dossiers as well as questions to consider in the interview process. It is their intention to present a robust selection of candidates to the search committee the following week. From that list, the search committee will select a group of semifinalists to interview in person at the end of January.  Assuming the timing of the process and the outcomes are what we would expect, final candidates should be visiting campus mid-February.
In addition to seeing our amazing facilities and sitting for additional interviews, final candidates will also meet with the search advisory committee. The members of this committee represent each division as well as staff and administration team members, and were recommended by their peers. They will provide the search committee additional feedback and important insight on each candidate to inform the final selection. Thank you to the following community members that have agreed to serve on this committee: Stephanie Caswell, Mary Condon, John Downey, Joel Hawes, Seth Hurd, Dani Megliola, Marc Small, Hevia Paxton, Jess Richardson, Ali Vandenburgh, and Eloise Willemsen. I am grateful for the time, perspective, and insights they are willing to offer to this important process.
I will update the community of any significant changes to our intended schedule and its impact on the search. Outside of that, this may be my last communication until we are well into the selection process. In the meantime, I am happy to answer any questions.
I wish you all a joyful holiday season. 2025 is setting up to be a transformative and exciting year for Berwick Academy.
Sincerely,
Nicole Outsen P’22, ‘24
