Jackson Library Old
Built in 2002 and remodeled in 2016, the state-of-the-art Jackson Library is the center of academic inquiry, discovery, and innovation on the Berwick Academy campus.
The charge of the Jackson Library is to support the mission of the school and to enable all students to become life long learners, critical thinkers, skillful researchers, enthusiastic readers, and ethical users of information. The two-story, 16,000 square foot facility contains over 26,000 volumes. The library has its own online portal that links students to a virtual library of thousands of online resources that support and enrich the curriculum. All resources are available 24/7 from any computer with Internet access. These resources include online subscription databases, the library catalog, pre-selected websites, eBooks and research guides.
The Jackson Library is filled with an energy of inquiry and learning, whether a student is working individually, collaborating with peers, attending a performance or presentation, using the Writing Center, visiting the Archives, working on Innovation Pursuits, stopping by an exhibit in the Art Gallery, or attending the Early Bird program. The Jackson Library strives to be at the forefront of the 21st Century Library/Learning Commons model.
Located on the first floor of the Jackson Library is the Inspiration Commons (IC). This three-part creative workspace allows for the incubation of powerful ideas in an open, collaborative environment. Click here to learn more about the IC.

Poet In Residence Virtual Community Event
This year's annual Mary Anker Poet in Residence Series features Brian Evans-Jones and additional readings by select Middle School students, faculty, and staff on Friday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m.
Brian Evans-Jones is a poet and teacher who has lived in South Berwick since 2014. He was born in Britain, where he was Poet Laureate of the Hampshire region for 2012-13. In 2017, he won the Maureen Egen Writers Exchange Award from Poets & Writers in New York City. His poems have appeared in competitions, magazines, and art events in America and the United Kingdom, and he has taught poetry in schools across Maine and New Hampshire, as well as in England. Hashi 2020 Project
The Hashi 2020 exhibition in Aomori includes over 100 prints from Maine Elementary School students from Berwick Academy, Blue Hill Consolidated School, Greely Middle School, Mabel Island Wilson School, and Thornton Academy (and the Nagasaki Tram Project and Seacoast Trolley Museum in Wells, ME) along with the Japanese woodblock prints made by the children of Aomori, Japan.
The annual Hashi student print exchange is made possible by Friends of Aomori, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the relationship between the State of Maine and Aomori Prefecture, Japan and the Aomori Rotary Club in Japan.
The Berwick Academy Archives
The Berwick Academy Archives exists to collect, preserve, and protect archival materials and documents that promote an understanding of and appreciation for the history, traditions, life and culture of Berwick Academy. The Archives is located on the second floor of the Jackson Library and is managed by a part time archivist.
