Global Ex

Global Ex is a student-driven, collaborative project integrating seventh grade science, world cultures, and art in the long term exploration of a country in a particular region of the world.
In-depth research inspires the construction of 1) an interactive country map highlighting creativity with Scratch programming, Makey Makey and a broad range of fabrication techniques and tools (laser cutter, 3D printer, electronics, etc.), 2) a poster displaying the results of a question-driven, data-rich scientific investigation into a country-specific problem, and 3) a reactive sculpture designed to empathize with, symbolize and draw attention to the work of a non-profit organization in that country.

Global Ex culminates in a community showcase where students exhibit their work, fundraise for their non-profit and engage visitors in conversations about what they learned about their countries as well as the Global Ex process.
